South Brisbane District Cricket Club

“Personal meaning is the way we connect to a wider team purpose. If our values and beliefs are aligned with the values and beliefs of the organisation, then we will work harder towards its success. If not, our individual motivation and purpose will suffer, and so will the organisation.”
― James Kerr, Legacy

About usAbout us
The South Brisbane District Cricket Club was established in 1897 and is located in the suburb of Fairfield, Brisbane.

Home of the mighty Magpies and one of the oldest cricket clubs in Brisbane, it has been home to many great cricketers in its history including Sam Trimble, Greg Chappell, Craig McDermott, Andrew Bichel, Ben Cutting and Billy Stanlake. For the 2020-21 season, the club has also recruited former Australian international player Gurinder Sandhu to the club.

Our home ground is located at Fehlberg Park and home to the famous Norman Gray, Bob Young and Jack Cooke ovals.

We field teams in the Queensland Premier Cricket competitions including each of the six grades of Men’s cricket, second grade Women’s team and a team in the Lord's Taverners (boys U16) competition.

We also work closely with the local juniors clubs to create pathways for young players wanting to play senior cricket.

We are currently in the process of developing material for this page including key historical information about SBDCC.

In the meantime, please find a history book collated by our club historian and life member, Clayton Bradford. The tireless work and effort undertaken by Clayton to pull this information together is remarkable. Clayton is continuing to build of the information as further information is found and collected.

We will continue to update this page as further detail and information is collected about the history of our club.

Below is the current list of Life Members for our club.

Please note there are no records of life members prior to 1922. It is possible that the club records are incomplete or that the club did not appoint life members at that time. But there are many people who were instrumental in forming the club and keeping it going during those early years.
